World Vision is an international Christians Humanitarian Organization working with the poor and oppressed to promote human transformation and seek justice. Our Cambodia Office is seeking a National Consultant to translate and contextualize a set of guidance documents and toolkits for a community-based ECD project called KLANG.
THE HISTORY AND PURPOSE
World Vision International - Cambodia (WVI-C) has recently completed its new 5-year National Office strategy and a sub-strategy for each of the organsation’s core programming areas, including Education & Life Skills (EdLS). In line with the EdLS strategic aims, Consulting services are required for translation from English into Khmer of a set of toolkits for KLANG, the ECD project. Translation also includes contextualisation to ensure suitability in the Cambodian context. The total number of English language pages requiring translation is approximately 450 pages.
- Develop a plan of action for translation and contextualization of the documents. The plan should include attention to the critical aspect of testing of materials.
- Translate and contextualize the various documents, from English to Khmer.
- In cases where contextualization is necessary, Consultant must work with WV’s EdLS staff to ensure quality and appropriateness.
- Liaise with appropriate MoEYS staff as necessary.
- Documents in Khmer must be formatted in the same way as the original document/s.
- Minimum of a BA degree in an education-related subject; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated high level of ability in both Khmer language and English language (written & verbal).
- Experience working with children of ECD age (3-6 years old).
- Experience with facilitation of people at village and community level; demonstrated group facilitation skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Willing to travel to the remote areas for field testing.
Duration: Work must be completed by mid September 2017. Payment will only be rendered upon completion of the entire consultancy. Consultant will be paid on the basis of deliverables, not on the basis of time.
